Neon Museum Brochures

The Neon Museum located in Las Vegas, Nevada is a sight to see for tourists, artists, and photographers. This is not your typical museum but a non-profit organization that focuses on the collection preservation of historical neon signs from Las Vegas. Not only is a cool place to visit but it has educational and artistic opportunities.

The Brief

The brief for this project was to design a series of three brochures for a museum. I chose to work with the Neon Museum located in Las Vegas, Nevada. I found the concept of the Museum intriguing because of the idea of old neon signs and found the typography visually interesting. This project was particularly challenging because of the need to have the striking photos front and center but to have the information supporting it. Finding balance between photography and text was what I focused on.

Project Goals

Develop a concept for three brochures for a museum

Create three different brochures that have unity and variation

The Process

The photos needed to be the focus, so I utilized them as background elements taking up most of the page. To portray the concept of neon lights, I used bright colors overlaid on top of the images. This then allowed me to play with the text, so it was readable, legible and followed the system across each brochure.

Project Takeaway

This project was particularly challenging because of the need to have the striking photos front and center but to have the information supporting it. Finding balance between photography and text was what I focused on.
